About David Epstein: David Epstein has been a teacher for thirteen years, working with students of all ages from kindergarten to higher education. He has taught students from all over the world, including a vibrant mix of Israelis and Palestinians, as well as at a charter school in Chicago’s South Side, operated by The University of Chicago. He studied philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago and was a fellow at Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy in Evanston, Illinois where he completed a degree in secondary science. David recently completed a masters in Adolescent Education at The College of Saint Rose in Albany NY and is awaiting responses to his application to begin a PhD in philosophy and sociology of education. His recent publication in Critical Civic Literacy A Reader edited by Joseph L. DeVitis explored how to educate kinder and more peaceful human beings. David created Putti Village Assistance Organization (PVAO) two years ago and has been working with Putti Village and the Abayudaya for over ten years. PVAO seeks to build a sustainable village with the Jews of Uganda in Putti village. A major current goal of PVAO is the creation of an interfaith school in Putti that would host both the students from the Jewish village as well as their Christian and Muslim neighbors.
