Etz Chayim Scholarship

The Congregation Etz Chayim Scholarship was established to recognize young people, age 17 to 25, who are committed to pursuing their Judaic studies. One scholarship valued at $500 will be awarded to the successful candidate who demonstrates good academic standing, an involvement in the Jewish community, a commitment to continuing education, and a potential for leadership.

Eligibility

  • Member, or the child of a member in good standing of Congregation Etz Chayim
  • Age 17 to 25
  • Majoring in Judaic studies at a University or a year’s study in Israel.

Criteria

  • Must have an average of 70% or higher or a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Involved at Etz Chayim or in the Jewish community.
  • Demonstrated leadership.

A selection committee will make the final decision.

  • Copy of most recent transcript
  • Two letters of reference from individuals (family excluded) who know about your extra-curricular, community, or leadership experience.

Application Deadline – May 22, 2015

Scholarship will be presented at a special Shabbat service in June. The successful candidate will be expected to give a brief presentation to the congregation on a Shabbat about what they learned at the attending school.
