Women’s League

We are proud that Women’s League is such a dynamic and integral part of synagogue life at Etz Chayim.

Our international organization, Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, provides services to over 700 affiliated women’s groups in Conservative synagogues in North America, and links numerous branches around the world. Women’s League is an active arm of the worldwide Conservative/Masorti movement with close ties to the Jewish Theological Seminary and the University of Judaism, supporting their programs through the Torah Fund Campaign.

Congregation Etz Chayim Women’s League strives to provide programs that instill the ideals of Judaism in the lives and homes of its members through education, social action, and religious observance.

Locally, we have participated with the Social Action Committee volunteers by working at Winnipeg Harvest food bank. Our special projects include the Judaica Gift Shoppe which provides wonderful items available for purchase for all occasions as well as support for the House of Peace which provides a safe place for immigrant women.

We hold fundraising events to meet our commitment to Torah Fund Campaign, which provides support to the programs of the Jewish Theological Seminary and other centres of Rabbinic training. The Golden Book project allows us to raise funds by providing visible place for congregants to honour a special person or occasion. Funds raised through this and other projects help to support the weekly Shabbat Kiddush as well as providing refreshments for Junior Congregation. Educational programs as well as entertainment evenings are held to enable the members to expand their knowledge and to enjoy camaraderie.

We encourage all women who have not yet done so, to “Connect with Women’s League and make a difference.” Let us welcome you as a member of Congregation Etz Chayim Women’s League.

Feel free to contact the Synagogue office and we will be happy to return your message promptly!
