Congregation Etz Chayim offers a rich array of programs and activities catering to all members in our community. Our goal is to create community awareness about our synagogue and all it has to offer.

There are many programs and plans in the works at Etz Chayim for congregants of every age. From Kabbalat Shabbat events and Junior Congregation, to holiday celebrations and adult programs.

Please contact Claudia Griner at claudiag@etzchayim.ca if you would like to volunteer, participate or suggest program ideas of your own!

YOUNG ADULTS

Our Young Adults are looking to drive engagement with Jewish life, and to build a fun social community where young Jews can take a break from school and the work of building new careers.

One of our Congregation's beliefs is centred around the concept of acts of kindness performed to perfect or repair the world.

Often part of our family programming, we encourage you to participate and share this special mitzvah with other fellow members of our community.

ADULT PROGRAMS

The Adult Education Program committee of the Board has as its mandate the creation and delivery of a broad range of adult and family-oriented programs.

The focus of programming is on educational and recreational programs that are thought–provoking and stimulating. Topics related to Judaic and religious themes, current events, political and social issues, and health information are designed to educate and inform members of the Etz Chayim congregation, as well as the broader community.

Previous programs have included a panel discussion on the Alt Right movement, a recreational day of activities for families called “Etz Chayim Alive”, as well as an evening concert showcasing the music of Leonard Cohen.

Working collaboratively with the Etz Chayim program director, the committee welcomes people with ideas and energy to provide the synagogue with interesting and relevant programming.

TALLIT WEAVING

The Tallit is a religious object that has accompanied our people for centuries. Weaving your creation is a powerful spiritual experience and one that can impact many generations of your family and loved ones.

Weaving a tallit can be very rewarding; you can do it for your children’s or grandchildren’s B’nai Mitzvah, for a wedding or anniversary; or for spiritual renewal. We have afternoon and evening classes.

FAMILY CELEBRATIONS

At congregation Etz Chayim we are proud of our dynamic, engaging youth and family programs. Children enjoy the creative and joyful ways we celebrate Jewish life.

These are some of our annual events:

Sukkot and Simchat Torah celebrations: we decorate our Sukkah with a special theme each year; On Simchat Torah we unroll the Torah with the help of all members and give a preview of the portion that corresponds to the B’nai Mitzvah children of the upcoming year.

Chanukah dinners are a great gathering, where all relatives come together to light the Chanukyah and have dinner as a community while enjoying great entertainment.

Come to one of these amazing events and feel the vibe of the shul, you are welcome to participate. Give as a call: 204-589-6305
